I was recently reading through some of our current measures in North Dakota, and I stumbled upon measure five which initially sounds good but when looking into it this measure shows the real motive of this act. If you have listened to this act on the radio it says if you want the law to crack down on people maliciously killing animals vote yes for measure five. Honestly when I first heard it i said yes that sounds alright, anyone that can maliciously kill an animal like that would deserve a felony, but it states any wrongful killing of dogs, cats or horses, which won't affect farmers, ranchers, hunters, veterinarians, and biologists. Honestly after getting initially tricked be this false advertising I realized what this stupid law is actually all about and totally realized this is just a way PETA and other animal activist groups can get into the law so they can eventually strengthen laws so they can achieve their long time goal of banning all hunting and agricultural practices of animals which in turn would kill our state. After reading into this I found out one of the main groups that is pushing this measure is HSUS which is the humane society which has spent all the money and donation on pushing this measure but not actually helping the animals which is really the stupid thing about these groups as they would rather raise money to get power rather than raising money to help all these animals. Its also funny that this act doesn't protect people abusing or starving their animals which is really way more wrong than what their trying to push for, the leader of this group also states he would love to abolish all hunting and agricultural practices which really show how stupid this measure is. So if you don't see through these groups lies you need to wake up and realize this will kill our state by giving these groups power. So if you want to believe these groups lies you will also kill our states economy so do what is right for our state and vote no on measure five.
This is a big issue with people in this area. I have had people tell me that they will vote just so they can have their say on Measure 5. I didn't know what it was about until I read up on it and realized I didn't was this measure to go through. I agree with those who "vote no" on Measure 5. It is too choosy and doesn't cover a large enough area of animals for me to agree with. People definitely need to read up on the measures that are on the ballot so they can vote properly.
ReplyDeleteThis measure doesn't really focus on helping animals. It covers horses, dogs and cats. What about all the other animals?
ReplyDeleteI hope that most of us are against cruelty to animals, but measure five is not the answer. I oppose it because this measure does not address ALL animals, and it doesn't protect animals from other forms of abuse.
Under this measure, a person who kills a feral cat is subject to a felony. I think that is simply ridiculous. Feral cats kill an estimated one billion songbirds per year, and two billion small mammals.
